"The Tardis"

Beauty in unexpected places.

While walking along the Mediterranean Sea shore from Jaffa to Tel Aviv, I came across this washed-up carbonate skeleton of a Cuttlefish.

I wondered if strong flashlight illumination might reveal visually-interesting details, so I brought it home, and tried sanitizing the specimen by soap washing and UVC sterilization. Afterwards, I photographed it in darkness, at night, while shining my flashlight through the specimen, using my vintage 1970s Nikon Micro-Nikkor lens.

I'm again humbled at the beauty of ordinary mundane objects that normally wouldn't cross our perceptual radar or otherwise warrant our attention or interest.

Tel Aviv vicinity.
